Elizabeth "Liz" Borg was orphaned three years ago when her parents were merely crossing a street and a drunk ran a red light and killed both of them. Since then, she has been living with her best friend, Carla Bowers. Carla's parents always wanted another child and were quite anxious to add Liz to their family. Before the accident, Liz and Carla were inseparable but now after living together for the past three years have grown closer than most blood-related sisters. Now it is time for both girls to go to college. Carla is going to the University of North Carolina and Liz is attending Duke. The universities are only approximately ten miles apart but more than a two-hour drive from their home in Charlotte, NC. They have very different college experiences because Liz has decided not to take any money from the Bowers family for her education. Therefore, she works throughout her college years, and Carla, with the help of her parents' money, pledges a sorority and has a very positive college life. Liz is hired straight out of college by a privately held conglomerate and enrolled in a three-year training program. Her assignments in this program age her more than her sister and prepare her for what happens to her after the training program comes to an end. This is a story of strong family ties where a bloodline is not involved. I hope you enjoy it.
